Show Notes Transcript

Are you truly giving yourself the 'space to be'?  Does our culture's focus on 'doing' over 'being' leave you feeling unfulfilled?  Let's embark on a journey of self-discovery and authenticity, and give you the tools to create your own 'space to be.'  This isn't about isolation or idleness, but about embracing those moments that allow us to truly be ourselves, reflecting on our truths, and nurture our emotional and intuitive selves. Learning to simply 'be' is a revolution against our result-driven perspective and opens the door to deeper understanding and growth.

In this captivating episode, we're also going to probe into why our culture often neglects the aspect of 'being' and how this imbalance affects us.  We'll explore different environments that can foster this state of 'being', whether it’s being with a loved one, connecting with nature, or even being part of a group.  The future of your growth, fulfillment, and self-understanding could start with this essential listen.  So, join the conversation and let's redefine what it means to just 'be'.  For further exploration, join us at beingspace.world, where we delve deeper through our workshops, energy treatments and mentoring programmes.   Let's embark on this journey of truth and transcendence together.

Speaker 1:

Truth and Transcendence brought to you by being Space with Catherine Llewellyn. Truth and Transcendence, episode 119. So I often get asked, catherine, what do you mean by space to be? Space to be is part of the strap line on my website being Space, space to be and Space for Transformation. So people say what on earth do you mean by space to be? Surely, I am being at any point in time, wherever I am.

Speaker 1:

So, of course, I'm using it for a particular reason. I'm using it to talk about where we find ourselves in a situation, in a space where we are able to be exactly as we are, that we are able to be ourselves entirely as we are. So one might immediately think well, does that mean space where we are by ourselves, or does it mean lots of empty time? Or does it mean a situation where we are with a therapist, let's say, and talking about what we're thinking and what we're feeling? Well, it can mean any of those things and it may not mean any of those things, because this thing about space to be is that only we can actually experience whether or not, in any moment, we feel that we have space to be. Only we can, in any situation, feel whether or not, that is, giving us space to be as we are, or whether or not it's a space which is, if you like, forcing us or driving us into action, into doing or into becoming. So we talk about being and becoming, both of which are part of the human existence. We need space to be. We also need opportunities to become, in other words, to grow and evolve and expand.

Speaker 1:

So why do I emphasize space to be? Two reasons, really. One is because I think something in our culture that is under-emphasized is the importance and the significance of simply being, and by that I don't mean lying on a beach doing nothing necessarily, although that may look like that. I don't mean simply the absence of doing. I mean a much higher level of experience, a higher level of vibration, where we are being very fully, so we might experience the moment more vividly. We might experience ourselves more vividly. Our emotions, our thought forms, our intuition, our energies, any of these things may seem more present to us when we are being, fully being.

Speaker 1:

And so, for each person, what is it that supports that kind of a state, and why is it so important, and why is it that, in my opinion, we under-emphasize it in our current culture? Well, I'll talk a bit about the last question first, because in our certainly in the Western world, which is what I'm most familiar with we do tend to emphasize performance, results, progress and the material, the material world, and this is all around doingness and work and effort and accomplishment, all of which is fantastic. However, we've been really we've been emphasizing that, over and above being and receptivity and what some people describe as the feminine principle, the receptive, the energy of the soul, the energy of the being. So we've been under-emphasizing that. So something I will sometimes do is try to emphasize something that I think needs more attention. Aside from that, in my experience, in my own life, in my own growth, my own expansion and that of clients I've worked with and friends and loved ones, what seems to work really well if somebody wants to grow and expand and become more satisfied and fulfilled, is if they start by focusing on being, because that's the place where it becomes easier for them to reflect and discover what is true for them at this time. And when we're able to explore and discover and tune into what's true for us in any given time, that's when we start to get the information that we need that can help us to then look and see well, what is it that we want and what do we choose, and what do we yearn for, what do we hunger for, what inspires us, what matters to us, what has meaning for us? So a space to be allows us to come home to who we are, how we are, where we're strong, where we feel weak, where we feel confident, where we feel fear, where we feel courage, where we feel appetite, what we feel called by. We can most easily discover that when we find for ourselves spaces to be.

Speaker 1:

So, for some people listening to this, your space to be might be when you're with your beloved, because in the eyes of your beloved you feel you come home, you feel known, you feel recognized, you feel the reassurance and the affirmation that allows you and supports you to come to home, to who you are, and to be with who you are, without judgment and comparison and without fear. For some people, listening, your space to be might be in nature, when your feet are on the grass or walking the hills or mountains or the snow, or when you're dancing with the wind, or when you're swimming, or when you are in some kind of very, very open, receptive connection with the forces of nature and the power of nature. You're leaning against a tree, perhaps lying on the grass, or just sitting, looking, or watching a ladybird walking across your hand, or playing with the cat, or marvelling in the beauty of a newborn child Some sort of connection with nature for some people really is a very powerful way to find oneself in a space to be. For some people it's in a group situation, a beautifully held group with a facilitator who is sensitive and intuitive and knows how to hold the space for everyone to be as they are. So we've all had experiences of space to be, and when I'm using that term in answer to the question I've been asked by many people, I'm talking about the importance of finding our own space to be and also, if we're looking at our own growth and expansion and if we're looking at seeking out and reaching out for help with that support, with that looking at, does that support that I'm considering using? Does it help create a space to be for me as my starting point, not as the point to stay in forever, but as my starting point for learning, recognising, opening, accepting, resourcing myself as well, of course and then making choices?

Speaker 1:

So my invitation to you this week is to look out for those spaces to be. Do you have those spaces where you could be? And if you are looking at asking for some assistance with your growth and expansion, please weave that into your criteria. Does this person or this group or this situation support me having a space to be as my starting point? Not for forever.
